Paris end Barcelona’s perfect start

Désiré Doué, Lucas Hernández, Vitinha and Fabián Ruiz scored for Luis Enrique’s side. However, the final margin hides how competitive the second half became.

Barcelona twice drew level through Xavi Espart and Lamine Yamal. Neither equaliser lasted long enough to give Flick’s team lasting control.

The European champions therefore won through their response to pressure as much as their attacking quality. Barcelona’s official report confirms their first defeat of the campaign.

PSG reached nine points after three Champions League matches, while Barcelona remained on six. Consequently, this defeat changes their European position without deciding their qualification prospects.

Injuries complicated the evening for both benches, rather than Barcelona alone. Paris lost Ousmane Dembélé, Marquinhos and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia during the contest. Flick also had to replace Olmo before halftime, bringing Fermín López into midfield.

Doué rewards the opening pressure

Paris attacked Barcelona’s attempts to build from defence with aggressive pressure. Early on, Kvaratskhelia struck the post as the visitors struggled to escape. Joan García kept Barcelona in contention with several saves before halftime. Meanwhile, his opposite number, Matvey Safonov, denied Raphinha as Barça began creating chances.

Dembélé’s injury brought Ferran Torres into the home attack after 20 minutes. However, García also frustrated the substitute as Paris continued finding shooting opportunities.

Doué finally broke through in the 38th minute with a low shot from outside the area. Therefore, Barcelona entered halftime needing better passing under pressure and greater protection around their own box.

Espart changes the contest after halftime

Espart supplied Barcelona’s first equaliser in the 55th minute. Fermín released him with a through ball, and he beat Safonov inside the area.

That forward run gave the visitors an attacking contribution from their defensive line. As a result, Barcelona had a route beyond relying entirely on their forwards.

Flick then introduced Rodri, Gavi and Karim Adeyemi around the hour. Meanwhile, Paris replaced the injured Marquinhos and Kvaratskhelia, forcing their own reshuffle.Safonov denied Gavi soon afterwards, keeping the score level during Barcelona’s improved spell. However, the visitors still needed to turn that momentum into a lead they could defend.

PSG vs Barcelona turns during the closing minutes

Hernández restored the home lead in the 72nd minute, heading in Doué’s delivery after a corner. Barcelona had conceded despite improving their general play.

Yamal answered seven minutes later with a left-footed finish from a tight angle. His individual quality brought Barça back to 2-2 and reopened the contest.

However, Vitinha struck from outside the box in the 81st minute. Fabián then finished from close range in the 86th, converting Achraf Hakimi’s delivery.

PSG’s official match centre records that final sequence, including the assists. Consequently, Barcelona went from level to two goals behind within seven minutes of Yamal’s equalizer.

Paris finds different routes to goal

The PSG vs Barcelona result came from more than one attacking pattern. Doué and Vitinha threatened from distance, while Hernández supplied a headed goal.

Fabián’s close-range finish added another dimension, following Hakimi’s delivery into the danger area. Therefore, Barcelona had to defend several types of threat throughout the evening. Paris also avoided letting either equaliser dictate the remaining match. Most notably, Vitinha answered Yamal almost immediately, before Barcelona could settle at 2-2.

From a tactical perspective, that response separated the teams during the closing stages. Barcelona produced moments of quality, but PSG converted the next decisive attacks.

Flick faces an injury concern before El Clásico

Olmo’s departure creates an immediate selection concern for Barcelona. However, leaving the pitch injured does not establish his diagnosis or recovery schedule.

Supporters need the club’s medical update before treating his Clásico absence as confirmed. Meanwhile, Flick must assess how much continuity his available midfield can provide.

Barcelona’s calendar lists Real Madrid next on October 25. For Mexican followers, the main sporting question concerns how Barça protect themselves after losing possession.
